Contains a 92-page diary kept by Martin Snow from 1861 to 1862. The diary documents Snow's experiences as a sailor during the Civil War, his financial accounts, and some of his literary efforts. Included with the diary is Snow's enlistment record, a card with Snow's address in Rochester, NH (1881) and two letters: one of which verifies his service on the U.S.S. Ohio, the other is a copy of his 1889 pension request.

Martin Snow, Civil War sailor, was born in Boston, MA in 1839 and died in Blair, NE in 1891. He was buried in Pittsfield, NH, where he once lived and where his daughter, Lena Snow Sargent, resided.
